Jim Leonhard Wants Athletes To Stop Wearing Stickers

Posted By: The NFL Chick on September, 21 2011

NY Jets Safety Jim Leonhard wants to give you a PSA: Wearing black stickers under your eyes sends a bad message to today’s youth. As a matter of fact, Leonhard thinks those black stickers are actually pretty feminine, saying:

“Call me old school, but when I think of wearing stickers, I envision my niece and her dollies.”

Leonhard is actually endorsing Farkas Original Eye Black, a black eye paint founded by the grandson of Washington Redskins great Andy “Anvil” Farkas. Looks to me like Farkas paid Leonhard a nice piece of change to get guys off the black sticker craze and back to the old days, when guys painted their faces. This PSA is pretty funny.  I wonder how many people will actually go out and buy it, especially when it’s much easier and less messy to peel stickers on and off.

Mark Sanchez Covers September Issue Of GQ Magazine

Posted By: The NFL Chick on August, 15 2011

Not sure about where you live, but in my part of the country, it’s awfully dreary outside, with non-stop rain, thunder and lightening. What better way to brighten the day than this? (okay so this may be a personal post, much needed!).

Jets QB Mark Sanchez is on September’s cover of GQ magazine, which hits stands Aug. 23. In the edition, he talks about what he looks for in a lady (“I can’t help but want somebody that’s, I don’t know, athletic. Somebody who can handle all this, you know, you can help me handle all this – because I’m still learning”) and his celebrity crush (Hint: She played on “Friends”).

The best part about the article, though, is looking at his pics. I must admit, Mark sure looks good in that gang green.

Yay Or Nay: Deion Sanders Has New Song Feat. Snoop Dogg

Posted By: The NFL Chick on August, 09 2011

Deion Sanders is coming off an amazing high after just being inducted to the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. Now he’s come out with a new song, “Hall Of Fame Swag” feat. Snoop Dogg. Of course, I immediately thought of, “Must Be The Money”, but Snoop being on the track makes this an upgrade in itself.

Overall, Primetime still needs to stick to football and commentating-he’s no artist- but the beat is hot and the star power makes it club worthy (if Soulja Boy can be a big hit, why can’t Prime?).

Go ahead, Prime!

WTF Pic: Elway Stan Gets Hall Of Famer Tattooed On Leg

Posted By: The NFL Chick on August, 02 2011

So I’m minding my own business in social media land, and I came across this pic via The Denver Post. Broncos Superfan (more like SuperSTAN) Joey Bouchard had this Elway tattoo done on his leg.

The masterpiece took over 85 hours in a 5 year span to complete, but he finally got it done. Bouchard said he’s going to get Elway’s Super Bowl rings added to his body next……

Remember when I though the Brett Keisel’s tattoo was a bit weird? Yeah… this one takes the cake! But if he likes it, I love it!

Video: Bill Belichick Doesn’t Do Twitter, MyFace or YearBook

Posted By: The NFL Chick on August, 01 2011

Patriots coach Bill Belichick is probably one of the most serious head coaches in the NFL. Every now and then, Ol’ Hoodie decides to tell a joke which can be pretty hard to tell if he’s being facetious or not. This time, tho… reporters got the joke- or at least, I think it that’s what it was.

After practice this past weekend, the question was asked about newly acquired WR Chad Ochocinco, who is a big hit on Twitter and Facebook. Chad has been uncharacteristically quiet since being traded up north, leaving folks to ask about his social whereabouts.

Belichick’s answer was typical… very dry and borderline serious. But it was a joke under his standards. Hey coach, I don’t Myface or YearBook either, but I shole do love me some Twitter. Chad does, too, so don’t keep him away for too long.

Video: Football Talk With Falcons CB Dunta Robinson

Posted By: The NFL Chick on July, 22 2011

I had the opportunity to chat with Falcons CB Dunta Robinson this past weekend. Robinson talks about his youth team (the Athens Oilers), which joined Deion Sanders’ youth tournament, why he chose to invest his time in building and coaching a youth team (it’s the team’s 3rd year), what’s the deal with his Atlanta Falcons, and why the South Carolina Gamecocks will make it back to the SEC Championship…………………….

God bless his spirit……..

In any event, Robinson’s interview was a good one. He’s a good CB and even better person. I wish him nothing but success in 2011….except when it comes to his Gamecocks going to the SEC Championship. #Gators

Oh SH*T! They Just Cut Troy Polamalu’s Hair!!!! (Video)

Posted By: The NFL Chick on July, 20 2011

Steelers S Troy Polamalu is known for his long, beautiful hair.. It’s so beautiful, he has a contract with Head And Shoulders shampoo. But there are some Polamalu hair haters out there… and Troy got punked!

Someone took the page out of the Jackass Movie book and took a pair of clippers to the star’s hair, taking a nice lock out of his mane. Troy was NOT pleased, to say the least. That being said, I laughed my ass off at his facial expression. He’s PISSED and he should be. You don’t see real hair like that anymore walking these streets.

The good thing is, Troy’s hair will probably grow back in about 3 mins. He’ll be fine. But damn, homey! As a woman who’s hair is her crown, I feel your pain…… and snickering at your response all at once.

Video: Deion Sanders Hosts Youth Tournament + Red And Black Gala

Posted By: The NFL Chick on July, 20 2011

This past weekend, Hall Of Fame inductee Deion Sanders hosted his 2nd annual youth football tournament, along with former Ravens/Browns RB Jamal Lewis, in Atlanta, GA. Teams from Dallas, TX, Baltimore, MD, Atlanta and Athens, GA took part in the weekend of football games that were separated in 3 age groups (10 and under, 12 and under & 14 and under). Sanders’ TRUTH team from Dallas, TX was there to represent.

During the tournament, I was able to sit down and have a conversation with Primetime. While the interview was great, it’s extremely hard to hear him due to his soft spoken demeanor (who knew?!).

Here are a few tidbits from his interview that are hard to hear:

On his reason behind the youth tournament:

I gotta reach [out to the youth], I gotta touch them, I gotta inspire them… hopefully to motivate them to get educated and to just dream….I think it’s a direct result of us [as adults], we stopped dreaming… we gotta get back to the roots, the basics, the core…and start spending time and loving [the children].. to let them know, they can make a difference

On the teams to watch for the 2011 season:

You have to fall back on the teams that faired well from last year… you gotta love New England  because of Tom Brady, the Pittsburgh Steelers are always gonna be there as well as Baltimore in the AFC and I can’t sleep on the New York Jets…. when you move over to the [NFC], I like New Orleans…. Tampa Bay came out strong…the Atlanta Falcons, I always save the best for somewhat last and I cannot discount, the Dallas Cowboys

On a take your pick segment that I quizzed him on:

Nnamdi/Revis: I like Revis… he dominates and plays both sides of the field

Andre Johnson/Calvin Johnson: Andre Johnson, and it’s not even close. Calvin is a young, grown man who’s coming on strong, But Andre is a grown man already… one of the better receivers of the game

Chad Johnson/Chad Ochocinco: I like Johnson. Johnson put up better numbers than Ochocinco. Ochocinco is my boy, I love him….but when Chad Johnson was Chad Johnson (pauses) Whoo… he was on.

T.O./Randy Moss/Plaxico Burress: Plaxico ain’t even in that conversation. I love him… but, T.O.could go down in history as one of the greatest to ever play the game. Randy Moss, WILL go into the Hall Of Fame one day and statistically is one of the greatest receivers to ever play the game.

Sanders also hosted a Red and Black Gala, to celebrate his Hall Of Fame induction. Those that came to celebrate his honor were NFL Network’s Jamie Dukes, Chilli from TLC, MLB player Brian Jordan and Keith Sweat, just to name a few. Sanders walked the red carpet with his gorgeous wife, Pilar. The event was a success, ending the night with Sweat serenading the audience with his old school hits (don’t judge me, I was amused!).

The 2011 PINK NFL Collection’s First Round Picks ARE…….

Posted By: The NFL Chick on July, 19 2011

The AFC North of course! I blogged last year that Victoria’s Secret were releasing gear for all 32 NFL teams for the 2011 season. The “First Round Picks” of their new line were all teams of the AFC North, which means my Ravens, Steelers, Browns and Bengals. The rest of the teams/divisions were released hour-by-hour via their Facebook page. You will be able to buy these items starting next month.

I’m sooooo excited about this. It’s very hard to find football gear that’s truly sexy, so having more options like the VS Pink line as well as Touch by Alyssa Milano gives us the resources to not only root for our favorite team but look damn good at it! Now all we need is for the lockout to end and football to resume so we can express our fandom fashionably!

Chris Kluwe Has A Twitter Toast For The Douchebags

Posted By: The NFL Chick on July, 19 2011

Who is Chris Kluwe, you ask? Oh, just the punter for the Minnesota Vikings. Kluwe isn’t too happy with Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Logan Mankins and Vincent Jackson, all whom are listed on the antitrust case. It was reported earlier that Mankins and Jackson may demand free agency or $10 million payout in exchange for their signature to settle the case. Manning and Brees later came into play because they would like to be exempt fully from the franchise tag.

Enters Chris Kluwe, who took his frustration to Twitter to express his feelings about their actions:

Who knew that punters were so fiery!

If this info is true, I’m with Kluwe all the way. These guys need to sit down and stop trying to look out for self. Four guys shouldn’t hold up what 1900 men represent and want, which is to play football. The fact that Kluwe spoke about it in his Kanye-esque tweet shows that guys want the lockout to end and football to be back. I’m holding my glass up, too, Chris Kluwe. Let’s have a toast for the douchebags!
